RSR Schifffahrt turns green

The power to make the difference

Environmental awareness is a topic which is present in every business. There is a trend, which makes environmental aware behaviour a duty, rather than a choice.

Within the last years, river cruises are increasing on every river in Europe. Many new docking possibilities have been constructed, and speaking for RSR Schifffahrt, the existing ones are constantly modernized. As it is widely known, even mooring ships need power to operate properly, therefore on many ships, the generators are needed to provide enough energy. To tackle this need and to reduce air and sound pollution, RSR Schifffahrt adds land power lines to its dockings in Traben-Trarbach, Düsseldorf and Volkach. This will show river cruises in a better light to your guests and to the local residents as well, so that we are further welcome in the nicest places along European rivers.

The required plans have been drawn with Initium from the Netherlands, the power supplier on the site as well as Walstrom. The official permits are on the way and so, the construction can take place soon.

Straubing already has a land power connection, which is greatly appreciated by the city and its habitants as well as the shipping companies as they save a lot of fuel and reduce emissions by using the land power when docked.

There are and we can assume, that in the future, river cruise ships will be more dependent on land power lines. There are a lot of experiments with battery supported ship engines, which would increase the need for land power lines. To be prepared for the future, RSR dockings will already have two 400amp power locks installed.
